RECYCLING AND WASTE

 

Managing waste effectively is key to looking after our city. It's important that you know which bins to use and put them out on the correct rubbish collection days. Not disposing of waste correctly can attract vermin such as rats, mice, cockroaches and ants to your home.

 

END OF TENANCY JUNE 2021 - MOVING OUT, COMMUNITY SKIP INITIATIVE


If you are moving out of your student property, please discard of unwanted waste and items that can't be reused/recycled. See below for the location of community skips, part of an initiative jointly funded by The University of Liverpool, Liverpool Hope University & Liverpool John Moores University, delivered in partnership with Liverpool Street Scene Ltd, to support students and the community.

WHAT BINS SHOULD I HAVE


A BLUE wheelie bin OR bag for recycling.


Depending on where you live you should have:


A PURPLE bin or a bag collection from the alleyway at the back of your house for household and food waste.

 


WHAT DO I DO IF I DON'T HAVE A BIN?


If you are entitled to a purple bin but do not have one, then you need to contact your landlord as it is their responsibility to provide you with one.


If you don’t have a blue recycling wheelie bin or bag then simply visit the Liverpool city council website and apply online, or contact the council by phone on 0151 233 3000.

 


WHEN IS MY COLLECTION DAY?


For information on your collection day simply go to the city council website and type in your postcode on the bin collection dates page

 


WHAT GOES IN EACH BIN?


BLUE bin - glass, cans, paper, magazines, newspapers, junk mail, catalogues, envelopes, egg cartons, cereal and food boxes, toilet or kitchen roll inner, cardboard, plastic drinks, or shampoo bottles. (Please do not put in plastic bags, bubble wrap or cling film.)


PURPLE bin - Your purple bin is for household and food waste, and items which cannot be recycled.

WHERE IS MY NEAREST HOUSEHOLD WASTE AND RECYCLING CENTRE?

HOW CAN I ARRANGE FOR A BULKY ITEM TO BE COLLECTED?


Bulky Bobs will collect up to 5 items for free! Simply go to the Liverpool City Council website and fill in the online form to request a bulky collection. Alternitively, you can also visit www.bulkybobs.co.uk
